Regional Tennis Finals, division two report

On Tuesday, Saskia N, Serra H, Hannah C and Imogen M all took part in the Regional Finals of the Yr 9 and 10 Schools Competition in Taunton, having won the Dorset League last summer term.

Each round consisted of 4 x singles matches - each player playing against their opposite ranked player, followed by 2 x doubles matches.

In the first round we played St Ives School and won 4-2.

In the Semi Finals we played the Cathedral School, Cardiff. At the end of the singles and doubles we were tied at 3-3, meaning there was a champions tie break shoot-out. Imo and Serra paired up for this and it was nip and tuck right to the end, with the lead changing hands several times, but we finally lost 7-10.

This meant there was another round for 3/4th places, where we played Kings Taunton. The girls summoned the last of their energy in what was a long and mentally taxing day. Saskia, playing at No. 1, saved her best until last and played some great tennis to win 6-3; at No. 2 Serra fought back from 1-5 down to win 7-5 which showed great strength of character and determination. With Hannah and Imo both unfortunately losing, we went in to the doubles with all to play for and the girls did just that. Saskia and Serra winning convincingly 6-1 and Hannah and Imo showed great determination to re-group and win 6-4 which meant Bryanston came third overall.

Congratulations to the girls!
