Cricket report - week 5

The following is the cricket report for week 5:

The fixtures came thick and fast in week 5. The block against Sherborne on Thursday proved to be a stern test for all sides. There were fine individual performances from Hugo H with 49, Billy W with 32 off 28 balls and Toby GF taking 3 for 18. The 1st XI had another nail-biter after posting 132 for 7 thanks to 52 from Max T. Ed M with 3 for 12 off four overs reduced Sherborne to 16 for 4, however a fine partnership in the middle overs helped Sherborne home with 7 wickets down and an over to spare.

On Saturday there were excellent wins against Clayesmore for the 2nds, thanks to a fine 43 from Harvey L and 33 from Billy W, and for the U15As with help from top scorer Finnegan Y with 23. The 1st XI kept Clayesmore to 135 for 7 off 30 overs with wickets shared by Ed M, Jamie G and Johnny P. The star of the show however was Johny C scoring 47 as Bryanston won by 7 wickets.

Pride of place this week though must go to the U14A side who despite running out of steam against Clayesmore on Saturday, pulled off a famous last ball win against Sherborne on Thursday thanks to the best all-round team performance their coach Mr Mills has seen at this level. On Tuesday the team won their County Cup quarter final against Highcliffe by 54 runs, with Tom J scoring 67 runs over the two matches and Oliver K recording a remarkable 4 for 6 off his 4 overs, including a hat-trick all cleaned bowled!
